Sultan Ali's Palace
By far the most impressive structure in Mysore is the maharaja's palace, a massive edifice that took 15 years to rebuild (starting in 1897) after an earlier structure burned down. One of the largest palaces in India, its on 73 acres and was designed by the famous Irish architect Henry Irwin (1841-1922), who was famous for practicing in India, and especially for his project in the Indo-Saracenic style-a synthesis of Hindu and Islamic architecture. *(all info from Fodors guide book on India)
This palace was fabulous. Unfortunately no photography allowed inside so I guess we'll have to buy a book on it. truly impressive
